about

The story comes full circle with the last of the MacKinnons leaving his beloved Brook in the early 1940s. This was Hugh, grandson of Hugh and Mary. An elderly man by that time and a widower, Hugh was taken away from his home by relatives who were concerned for his well-being. He was not happy about it. In this fifth and final movement, Scott has woven together the themes that he developed in the opening movement uniting in music the history of the settlement of MacKinnon's Brook.
