about

(pronounced: Kay-lee/Scottish Gaelic for gathering party)
The pipes and fiddle kick out here in a set of strathspeys and reels. There is tinge of sadness in some of the tunes in this movement but the feeling overall is strength, vibrancy and celebration. Mary and her children are getting on with life with the support of their close-knit community. The 'Ceilidh' movement is a medley of traditional strathspeys and reels which finishes with an original reel by Scott. These tunes are grouped together in the manner commonly found in Cape Breton. The strathspeys in this movement include “MacKinnon’s Brook,” “Miss Drummond of Perth” and “Captain Kennedy.” The reels are “Put Me in the Big Chest,” “The Night We Had the Goats,” “Miuleann Dubh” and “Tigh na Mara.”
